Making stout beer is essentially the same as making any beer. The biggest difference is in the brewing process.
Using different kinds of hops and malts will drastically change the flavor of your beer. To make it stronger, you can steep flaked barley, crystal malt and roasted malt. There are many different kinds of barley, hops and malts that you can experiment with to make the perfect stout beer.
During the brewing process add your malts to boiling water in the boiling pan. Putting them in a mesh bag, then putting the bag in the water will make straining much easier later on. Stir until the malts are fully saturated, and let them steep for about 30 minutes at that temperature. You will need to watch the liquid, because it will often boil over. Remove the bags and add your hops.
Different recipes call for different types and amounts of hops. This is one more thing you can experiment with to make your beer the way you like it. Boil the hops for about 50 minutes. When it is done boiling, pour the entire mixture through a strainer into your fermentor bucket. Make sure that the strainer and bucket are sterilized.
Once you have strained out all of the hops, you can begin bottling as you would any other brew.
